Rock concerts aren’t the only preying ground for scalpers. Academy Awards ticket scalping has become so widespread that the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences plans to get tough this year. Although tickets have yet to be printed for next month’s event, ticket brokers are already offering “invitation only” ducats for $350-$1,500, according to Daily Variety. Academy officials said they will use several new methods to determine who the scalping culprits are, in addition to tracing seat numbers of unauthorized attendees back to the invited members. Those academy members caught won’t be invited to future ceremonies, officials said.
