Assets of the nation’s 421 money market mutual funds fell $492.9 million in the latest week, the Investment Company Institute said. The decline, to $279.53 billion in the seven-day period ended Wednesday, followed a $1.37-billion increase in the funds’ assets the previous week, according to the Washington-based mutual fund trade group. The total for the previous week was originally reported as $280.06 billion, but was revised downward in the latest report to $280.02 billion. The funds’ assets hit a record high $280.023 billion in the week ended Feb. 24.
