Ricky Byrdsong, top assistant under Arizona Coach Lute Olson, was named basketball coach at the University of Detroit.
Byrdsong, 31, takes over a program with a 14-44 record in the last two years. He becomes the 17th coach in the 81-year history of Titan basketball. He replaces John Mulroy who was interim coach after Don Sicko quit three games into the season.
