Events in the news this week.

All of Orange County’s public schools will be closed this week for spring break. Police departments in Laguna Beach, Newport Beach and Huntington Beach will be beefing up their patrols in anticipation of a crush of students at the county’s beaches. Cool temperatures kept the usual crowds away last year, although eight people were arrested in Newport Beach when police broke up a melee that started when a young woman in a convertible bared her chest to a crowd in Balboa’s Fun Zone.
