Orange County Football All-Star Game Nominations : Santa Ana, Capistrano Valley Head South’s List

Seven players each from Santa Ana and Capistrano Valley high schools have been nominated for the South team that will play in the 29th Orange County All-Star football game scheduled for July 8 in Orange Coast College’s LeBard Stadium.

Six players each from El Toro, the two-time Southern Conference champion, and Huntington Beach have been nominated, and Fountain Valley, Marina, Mater Dei, Mission Viejo, Westminster and Woodbridge each had five.

El Toro quarterback Bret Johnson, The Times’ county player of the year, is among the nominees. Todd Marinovich, Capistrano Valley quarterback, also has been nominated but is expected to decline the invitation.

Bob Johnson, El Toro coach, will select 35 players from the list of nominations for the South team. Schools are limited to three players on the team with the exception of the head coach’s school.
