UCLA Meets Kansas and Iowa in Track

UCLA’s men’s track and field team will play host to Kansas and Iowa today in a triangular meet at Drake Stadium. The first field event starts at 1 p.m., the first running event at 2.
Henry Thomas, UCLA’s star sprinter, will not compete. He has been undergoing tests for allergies and hasn’t worked out recently. Nevertheless, the unbeaten Bruins, 6-0 in dual meets this season, are favored.
The Jayhawks may have the strongest group of pole vaulters ever assembled at the college level. They are senior Scott Huffman, with a best mark of 18 feet 4 1/2 inches, junior Chris Bohanan (18-3) and sophomore Pat Manson (18-0 1/2).
Kansas Coach Bob Timmons, in his 23rd year, is retiring at the end of the season.
