RB Industries has re-acquired an 8.75% stake in Cousins Home Furnishings of San Diego, according to documents filed with the SEC. RB Industries, a Los Angeles-based furniture retailer, sold the shares in 1984 to the Brunton Corp. of San Diego, said Stanley Goff, chief operating officer of RB Industries. In February, however, Brunton defaulted on a financing arrangement used to purchase the shares, Goff said, prompting RB Industries to request the return of all shares not yet paid for. Goff said RB Industries originally acquired and will continue to hold the Cousins shares for investment purposes only.
