AFL-CIO Chief Has Flu

WASHINGTON — AFL-CIO President Lane Kirkland canceled a series of speeches this week because of a lingering case of flu that required a brief hospital stay, spokesman Rex Hardesty said Tuesday. He said that Kirkland, 66, was expected to return to work later in the week.
