Cudahy : Casino License on Agenda
The Cudahy City Council is expected to vote April 21 on the transfer of a casino license. The matter was held over from the last council meeting to allow extra time for lawyers for the city and the prospective casino owner, Naxos Inc., to clarify details in the license agreement.
The council acted after one of Naxos’ lawyers raised questions about the company’s obligations in three areas: the payment of any legal fees the city might incur as a result of the casino’s operation; payment of any fees to consultants the city might hire because of the casino; and notification of all games to be played and their rules.
“I’ve been in this so long,” said Mayor John Robertson, referring to the more than five years the city has spent considering the operation of a casino. “I want to make sure we have an agreement both sides can walk out and be comfortable with.”
