The World : Rustlers Kill 192 in Kenya
Rustlers armed with machetes and rifles raided 30 nomad camps in a remote part of northwestern Kenya, killing 192 people and wounding 50, the government said. The rustlers made off with about 3,500 cattle, sheep, goats and donkeys, officials said, adding that 40 of the 50 rustlers were captured or killed and about 3,000 animals recovered. The sky over the massacre scene was black with vultures, the independent newspaper Sunday Nation said. Laban Kitele, minister of state, said the rustlers were a well-armed “terror gang” of Sudanese from the Toposas tribe and Ndongiros from Ethiopia.
