**** “My Life As a Dog.” Paramount. $79.95. Somehow, director Lasse Hailstrom has caught all the perils and delights of treading that knife edge between pain and delight that is childhood blending to adolescence. A sterling film whose style sits between the light moments of Hailstrom’s fellow Swede, Ingmar Bergman, and the darker moments of Francois Truffaut’s childhood films. Bear in mind that the video being released this week is the dubbed version of the film. My suggestion would be to wait for May 18 and get the real thing, subtitled.
