Pat Brown Endorses Dukakis

Former California Gov. Pat Brown today endorsed Massachusetts Gov. Michael S. Dukakis, boosting the presidential candidacy of the Democratic front-runner in the crucial California primary.
“This young governor has done a magnificent job,” Brown said at a news conference. “The state of Massachusetts is comparable to California, not in size but in diversity.” Asked about his son, former Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr., for the No. 2 spot on the Democratic ticket, the 83-year-old Brown said, “I think he’d make a great vice presidential candidate.”
