Cash Will Compete in ATP Tournament

CINCINNATI — Australian star Pat Cash, the reigning Wimbledon tournament champion, has entered this summer’s Assn. of Tennis Professionals Championship.
Cash joins five other top-ranked players who have already committed themselves to play in the Aug. 13-21 ATP tournament. The others are Mats Wilander, a former ATP singles champion; Stefan Edberg, Jimmy Connors, Miloslav Mecir and Yannick Noah.
This year’s version of the annual ATP Championship offers $602,500 in total prize money. It will again be played at the Jack Nicklaus Sports Center in Mason, 20 miles north of Cincinnati.
ATP officials said other players already committed to compete in the tournament are Andres Gomez, Kent Carlsson, Andrei Chesnokov, Joakim Nystrom, David Pate, Mikael Pernfors and Guillermo Perez-Roldan.
