The Winter Olympics held earlier this year in Calgary could pump as much as $150 million into amateur sport in Canada, 30 times more than the amount projected when the city began bidding for the 1988 Games.

Bill Pratt, president of Calgary’s Olympic organizing committee, said the original prediction had been $5 million.
