Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Boy, 4, Dies From Injuries in Accident

A 4-year-old boy who was struck by a car last weekend has died of his injuries, authorities said Tuesday.
Jeff E. Lopez was struck Sunday afternoon when he ran in front of a car driven by a 21-year-old Santa Ana woman, police said.
The boy had been playing near his home in the 1100 block of Spurgeon Street when he darted from between two parked cars and into the path of the oncoming car, according to police.
The boy, who suffered major head and chest injuries in the accident, died about 9 a.m. Monday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, police said.
No charges were filed in connection with the accident, but authorities said an investigation is continuing.
