While all eyes have been on Moscow and the superpower summit, another more intimate Soviet-American meeting is going down tonight right here in Southern California. American singer-songwriter David Pomeranz and Soviet rocker Sasha Malinin are getting together at At My Place in Santa Monica for a performance of “Far Away Lands,” the tune they recorded together in Los Angeles and Moscow last year and other new material. Malinin has been in L.A. for about two months now, taking in the local culture and banging out tunes with Pomeranz. The glasnost -born duo plans to record later this year.
