Rockwell International’s Satellite & Space Electronics Division in Seal Beach has been awarded a supplemental contract valued at $96.5 million to supply Navstar global positioning system satellites to the U.S. Air Force. The award extends an existing Rockwell contract by 18 months to June, 1992. In 1982, Rockwell was awarded a $1.2-billion, multi-year contract to produce 28 satellites for the Air Force. The Navstar program employs about half of Rockwell’s 2,800 workers in Seal Beach.
