Fleming Cos. said it agreed to acquire food wholesaler Malone & Hyde Inc. in a $600-million transaction that will make it the nation’s largest food distributor. Fleming, of Oklahoma City will pay $225 million in cash and assume $375 million in debt of the Memphis, Tenn.--based Malone, which is privately owned. Fleming said the transaction is expected to be completed before August.
