Local News in Brief : Lake View Terrace Boy Missing From Home

Authorities Saturday evening were looking for a 15-year-old mentally retarded boy who wandered away from his Lake View Terrace home.
The youth, Jose Barreros, is “unable to speak clearly and cannot read,” said Rodolfo Ordono, the boy’s foster father. He said the youth had been in his care since 1983 and had not wandered off previously.
Police and Explorer Scouts were searching the neighborhood near the boy’s home in the 11900 block of Pierce Street, said Los Angeles Police Officer Jack Aquino.
The boy wandered off about 3 a.m. Saturday. When last seen, the youth was wearing dark brown pants, a short-sleeved blue shirt and black shoes, Aquino said.
