The Valley Dodgers opened Golden State League play by sweeping a doubleheader from the La Jolla Waves, 5-1 and 9-3, Saturday in La Jolla.
With the Dodgers leading, 2-1, in the seventh inning of the first game, catcher Chae-Ho Chong hit a three-run triple to give reliever Tim Quintanilla breathing room. Quintanilla pitched two hitless innings in relief of Loren Jundy to earn his first save.
Jundy allowed two hits in five innings and left with a lead built on an RBI-triple by Kevin French and an RBI-single by Randy Thompson in the fourth.
In the second game, Lorenzo Lesky was 3 for 4 with two doubles and two runs batted for the Dodgers (4-4, 2-0 in league play). Chong and Corey Aurand each had two hits.
Starter Rick Torres allowed three hits over five scoreless innings for the win. La Jolla is 3-3, 0-2 in league play.
