Viewing the Cold War

Next month I am going to meet my daughter at the airport. She is flying in from the Soviet Union and this will be the first time I have seen her in over 14 years. She was only 12 years old the last time I saw her, and now she is a woman of 26 with a child. The reason for this absence was due to the human rights situation in that country.
Happiness and appreciation has come into my heart, but I am confused as to whom I should address my thanks for this reunion. Should I thank the Soviet Union that still today abuses human rights in spite of its so-called glasnost , or should I thank President Reagan? I have decided to send my appreciation to President Reagan who had enough courage and stubbornness to persuade the Soviet Union to change.
Thank you, Mr. President. God bless you and make all your dreams come true like you have made mine.
