BEIRUT — Shia Muslim militiamen said they stormed a shack in south Beirut today and rescued three children of a wealthy foreign exchange dealer whose kidnapers had demanded a $3-million ransom. No ransom was paid, they said.
A spokesman for Hezbollah (Party of God) said about 10 militiamen launched the rescue operation after a suspect revealed the location of the hide-out, a shack hidden among sand dunes near Beirut airport.
Dana Ariss, 13, and her brothers Samer, 11, and Ramzi, 6, had been held since Tuesday when six gunmen intercepted their car and seized them on their way to school.
