Suspects in Firebombings Rounded Up, Israelis Report

JERUSALEM — Israeli authorities said Sunday that they have captured several groups believed responsible for a series of firebombings in Jerusalem.
Some of the groups were said to be affiliated with the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the others with the pro-Iranian Islamic Jihad.
The groups, captured during recent weeks, are suspected of carrying out six firebomb attacks in Jerusalem in connection with the Palestinian uprising in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, authorities said. Police did not specify the number of people arrested.
Meanwhile, a police spokeswoman said authorities suspect that an Israeli reserve soldier who claimed he was stabbed by four Arabs while hitchhiking Saturday lied because he was late returning to his base.
