Christian Belief in a Christian School
Iam 15 years old and a former student of the Sherman Oaks Presbyterian Nursery School. I felt it my responsibility to write and share with you my wonderful and loving experiences there.
Before this problem ever arose, I used to look upon the school as a place where I could feel loved and safe. All of the teachers, both Christian and Jewish, devoted their love and their time to give me a wonderful foundation for life. One of the things that I most liked about the school was that it opened my eyes to all of the different cultures and people that existed in the world around me. Look at our torn-up world today! It is the result of being split into different parts, never meshing. I thought that our society was finally catching on to the fact that to have peace, everyone must understand and respect one another!
But today I have been proven wrong! The Sherman Oaks Nursery School was one of the first attempts in my life to create peace among everyone. And now that has been destroyed! What a shame! I have never experienced a death in my life, but now I know what it feels like.
I know that the church has every right (lawfully) to make this change, but I just wish they could have gone about making it with a lot more thought, a lot more respect and, most of all, a lot more kindness. I know that this change will not benefit anybody! Not even the church itself!
