Nixon Has Hernia Surgery

NEW YORK — Former President Richard M. Nixon left the hospital today following “routine hernia surgery,” officials at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center said. Nixon, 75, entered the Manhattan hospital Wednesday and underwent surgery Thursday for the hernia, said Myrna Manners, a spokeswoman for the hospital. She said the surgical technique used was “a Canadian repair, which is commonly used to take care of hernias.”
