Mission Valley Team Advances in Volleyball

The Mission Valley girls’ volleyball team of Orange County won all three of its matches Thursday to advance to the semifinals of the girls’ 16-and-under portion of the U.S. Junior Olympics volleyball tournament at Colorado State University.
Mission Valley opened the day by defeating Second City of Chicago, 15-0, 15-4. It then beat Team Choice of Minneapolis, 15-3, 15-8. Mission Valley’s final victory came over Mid-America, 13-15, 15-8, 15-1.
In that match, with the scored tied 1-1 in the third game, Mission Valley’s Jody Budge served 14 straight balls to help her team to victory.
Mission Valley plays Orange County Red, representing the Balboa Bay Club, in the semifinals today. The other semifinal matches Santa Barbara against Nevada Juniors of Las Vegas.
