Edward Duke, who is directing his adaptation of the works of P.G. Wodehouse, “Jeeves Takes Charge,” for the Old Globe Theatre--is too busy performing in Toronto to fly to San Diego for rehearsals. So, Don Sparks, who will be the first person other than Duke to play the 12 characters in the one-man show, flew to Toronto with an assistant stage manager. Previews, however, won’t take place in Canada, the Globe promises. Duke and Sparks are expected back in time for those at the Old Globe’s Cassius Carter Centre Stage on Aug. 4-9. The show, a San Diego premiere, will open Aug. 10.
