The Flying Tiger Line Inc. filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Transportation charging the Japanese government with imposing “discriminatory and anti-competitive” restrictions on Flying Tigers’ authority to operate new, scheduled all-freight service between Anchorage and Tokyo in conjunction with continuing service to and from Europe. Flying Tigers charges that these restrictions, which provide limitations on the amount of freight that can move between Japan and Europe through Anchorage, prevent it from effectively competing with Japanese carriers on this route and denies Anchorage the economic benefits of the new service.
