Psomas Cited for Excellence for Surveying, Mapping City

Psomas & Associates has won the Project of the Year Award of Excellence in surveying and mapping from the California Council of Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors.
The civil engineering firm was honored for its space surveying technology in charting maps for the city of Rancho Cucamonga, which needed an accurate infrastructure and resource mapping system.
City staff engineers required aerial photogrammetry of a 42-square-mile area and a means of digitizing the information into a computer data base for city management.
Psomas’ solution was to use the global position system survey method by which its surveyors measured satellite radio waves in relation to ground markers to determine elevations and horizontal distances.
