TASK (Team of Advocates for Special Kids), a parents’ organization for disabled children, will celebrate its 10th anniversary Saturday with an awards dinner at the Disneyland Hotel.
“TASK will honor five individuals who have made outstanding contributions toward improving the quality of life for all those with disabilities,” said Joan Tellefsen, spokeswoman for the group.
The award recipients will be Student of the Year Troy Stoddard, 16, a sophomore at Woodbridge High in Irvine, who is a member of the school’s marching band and is in a wheelchair because of cerebral palsy; Volunteer of the Year Ronnie Marie Anchondo, 12, of Whittier, a TASK volunteer who helps her three brothers who have diabetes; Educator of the Year Patrick Campbell, director of the special education division of the state Department of Education in Sacramento; Parent of the Year Diana Williams, a Westminster parent of a deaf daughter and a leader in advocating programs for disabled children, and Professional of the Year Edna Zinar, a Los Angeles psychologist who helped found TASK.
Dinner tickets, at $30, are open to the public. For reservations, call Tellefsen at (714) 962-6332.
