Authorities in Kingston, N.Y., said a drug link rather than any racial motive was suspected in the slaying of a black teen-ager after a black man was charged with murdering the young woman, who was found with the letters “KKK” carved on her leg. Jeffrey Allen Dawson, 29, of Kingston, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of Anna Kithcart, 19. The victim’s body was found last week behind a hospital in Kingston, about 25 miles from where Tawana Brawley, 16, said she was raped by a group of white men last November. Police said they had no motive for the slaying.
