Aluminum Co. of America reported a second-quarter profit of $237.6 million, contrasted with a loss of $91.2 million for the year-ago period, when the company took charges of $165.7 million. Sales totaled $2.49 billion, up 25%. Pittsburgh-based Alcoa attributed the gain to a worldwide bull market in steel and the company’s strong product lines.
