Favored Pinstripe Defeats Turf Rivals

Pinstripe took the lead entering the stretch and pulled away to beat longshot Santo Angelo by 3 1/2 lengths Thursday in the $43,000 feature race on the turf at Hollywood Park.
Super Dupont was another three-quarters of a length back in third, completing a sweep by foreign-breds before a crowd of 13,429.
Ridden by Chris McCarron, Pinstripe--a 5-year-old, Irish-bred horse--was clocked in 1:47 for 1 1/8 miles and returned $6.20, $5.40 and $3.80 as the favorite.
Owned by R.D. Hubbard and trained by Dick Mandella, Pinstripe earned $23,650, pushing his career total to $131,039.
French-bred Santo Angelo, with Russell Baze, paid $8.20 and $4.80. English-bred Super Dupont, under Corey Black, paid $6.20.
