Honda Recalls 279,821 of Its ‘84, ’85 Civics

DETROIT — American Honda Motor Co. announced Friday that it is recalling 279,821 of its 1984 and 1985 model Civic subcompact cars to replace a fuel pump that could cause an underhood fire. Honda said the mechanical fuel pumps on Civics equipped with carburetors could leak under prolonged use at a crimped seal between the two halves of the pump.
