A Tijuana resident was killed late Wednesday when a car in which he was riding was involved in a three-car accident near downtown San Diego, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Ramon Montano, age unknown, was riding in a car driven by Catarino Juares, 36, of San Diego, when the car hit a stalled truck and then collided with another car, the CHP said.
The car was headed south on Interstate 5 near Crosby Street about 10 p.m. when Juares tried to pass slow-moving traffic, the CHP said.
Juares suffered minor injuries and was being held Thursday at County Jail downtown, where he was booked on suspicion of felony drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter.
There were no other injuries in the accident, police said.
