Carl Rowan Faces Gun Charges in Shooting

WASHINGTON — Columnist Carl T. Rowan has been charged in Superior Court with possession of an unregistered gun and unregistered ammunition in the June 14 shooting of an intruder caught sneaking a late-night swim in the back yard pool of Rowan’s Washington home, the city corporation counsel’s office said Thursday.
Rowan, who was traveling on the West Coast, was not aware that the charges had been filed on Wednesday, according to his wife, Vivian. “We haven’t heard a thing about it,” she said.
