A brush fire in the Angeles National Forest near Pyramid Lake charred about 150 acres of dry chaparral Friday, and 25 acres were lost in a blaze near Lake Palmdale, authorities said.
No injuries were reported in either fire, and no homes were threatened.
The larger of the fires was reported shortly after midnight Thursday about a mile south of Pyramid Lake, west of Interstate 5. U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Marilyn Hartley said 150 firefighters, including a crew from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, were battling the blaze, partly by setting backfires to clear brush and chaparral in the path of advancing flames.
Full containment was expected by 1 p.m. today, Hartley said.
