Oprah Winfrey has a job for at least five more years, according to a statement released Monday by her sydicator, King World Productions. Winfrey’s talk show will be running on seven ABC owned-and-operated stations across the country, including KABC-TV Channel 7 in Los Angeles, through 1993. Said Winfrey, who appeared at a New York press conference with King World and ABC executives: “I am eager to live up to the challenge of producing a show with consistently varying themes that not only entertains but informs.” No monetary details of the contract extension were available. The Winfrey show currently appears on 198 stations across the country.
