Stuart Thomas to Attend Cal Poly SLO

Former Mater Dei High School basketball standout Stuart Thomas said Monday that he will attend Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in the fall.
Thomas, who had said in July that he would leave Stanford, will sit out next season and will have two years of eligibility left. Thomas’ brother, Simon Thomas, is a member of the San Luis Obispo basketball team.
“I just liked everything about the campus,” said Thomas, a 6-foot 9-inch forward. “I also liked the idea of being able to play one year with my brother.”
Simon Thomas, a 6-3 point guard, will be a junior next season.
Stuart Thomas, an All-Southern Section pick as a senior at Mater Dei, decided to leave Stanford because of lack of playing time. He played sparingly during his two seasons with the Cardinal.
