The largest American exhibition ever of drawings by Michelangelo will open Oct. 9 at the National Gallery of Art in Washington. The collection of 46 composition sketches under the title “Michelangelo: Draftsman/Architect” include several studies for the Sistine Chapel ceiling in Rome. The “architect” portion of the show, including large wooden models of the drum and dome of St. Peter’s.
