Guns N’ Roses

A little more than a year ago, after just having bought the “Appetite for Destruction” CD, I was leafing through Calendar’s Pop Music section when I came across a review of my favorite album.
Guns N’ Roses shared space in the review with Faster Pussycat, and both were dismissed as Aerosmith rip-off bands (Record Rack, by Don Waller).
Now, after selling 2 million albums on what amounts to word-of-mouth, Guns N’ Roses are referred to as “maybe the best band of it s type since Aerosmith” ($25 Guide, by Robert Hilburn, Aug. 28).
It’s amazing how perceptions can change in a year.JOHN GRIFFONE
