Cesar Chavez’s 36-Day Fast and UFW Boycott of Grapes

Gov. George Deukmejian charges Chavez with being “irresponsible” for fasting 36 days, (Part I, Aug. 28) trying to convince the public that eating table grapes presents a serious health hazard.
At least Chavez is willing to put his life on the line to prove a point and draw attention to something that he believes in to increase public awareness for support.
