13,000 Acres Seized in Biggest U.S. Drug Case Confiscation

INDIANTOWN, Fla. — The government says it has confiscated more than 13,000 acres of ranch land belonging to a drug smuggler in the biggest such seizure in U.S. history.
The land seized Wednesday was valued at $35 million and was owned by Frank Brady, whom investigators have linked to the Medellin cartel of Colombia, which is responsible for 80% of the cocaine brought into the United States.
Brady was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 1986 for smuggling 3,000 pounds of marijuana through his private resort in the Bahamas and property in Astatula, near Orlando. He earlier forfeited at least $5.6 million in cash and property.
