Office Building Boom Reported in San Diego
- Share via
A booming economy and “growth, traffic and sensitive land issues” have helped contribute to a record 4.4 million square feet of office building space under construction in San Diego County in the first half of this year.
This is a 45% increase over the 2.4 million square feet under construction for all of last year, according to Grubb & Ellis Co.
Three-quarters of the office space under construction is in three major markets--Downtown San Diego, North University City and Mission Valley--according to the Grubb & Ellis survey.
Downtown leads with 1.7 million square feet under way, according to the firm’s Mike Philbin. North University City (also called the Golden Triangle) is second with 842,000 square feet, followed by Mission Valley with 665,000 square feet.
