A former Knoxville, Tenn., city councilman allegedly drove his car into a crowd protesting the movie “The Last Temptation of Christ” outside a Knoxville theater Friday night, police said. Foster Arnett, Knoxville police spokesman, said over the weekend that former Councilman Roy Bass registered a .13 on a breath alcohol test, above the state limit of .10 for intoxication, when he was arrested at the scene and charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated assault. Five people were injured when Bass drove his car into a crowd of 500 to 600 people gathered to protest the first showing of the film at a Knoxville theater, police said.
