Hospital Corp. of America, the nation’s largest hospital operator, said a board committee informed its management that a leveraged buyout proposal at $47 a share would be rejected. Last month, executives of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA, including company Chairman Thomas Frist Jr., said they might propose buying the chain for about $47 a share, or $3.3 billion.
