Local News in Brief : More Retail Space in Project
- Share via
The Torrance City Council has approved a plan to increase retail space in an office and hotel development on Pacific Coast Highway near Torrance Municipal Airport.
The modifications approved unanimously Tuesday will allow FAB Industries, the developer of the 13 1/2-acre Madison Park project, to reduce office space from 99,120 square feet to 76,994 square feet. The plan will also cut the number of hotel rooms from 177 to 141. The retail space will be increased 9,600 square feet, bringing the total to nearly 47,000 square feet.
The project between Madison Avenue and Aero Way was approved three years ago and was to have been completed next month. There were no provisions for retail use in the original plans.
Councilman Bill Applegate warned the developer that any further requests for modifications would probably “jeopardize the whole package.”
