When they finish dancing in the streets with Tommy Lasorda, local TV viewers can sit down to watch a couple of old favorites finally made new again.
Delayed by last summer’s writers’ strike, the highly rated “Murder, She Wrote” rolls out its fifth season premiere on CBS Sunday at 8 p.m. Angela Lansbury starts off the year in jail as the prime suspect in a murder she witnessed. Len Cariou, her co-star on Broadway in “Sweeney Todd,” guest stars.
And born out of the same writers’ strike when the networks were wondering what they could do to salvage a fall season, a new version of the old hit series “Mission: Impossible” debuts Sunday at 8 p.m. on ABC. Peter Graves reprises his roll as head of the crack team of superspies in new episodes filmed in Australia.
Here are other weekend programs.
