Honeywell Inc. reported a loss of $22.2 million for the third quarter, contrasted with net income of $69.6 million a year ago. Sales rose to $1.73 billion, up 6%. The Minneapolis-based international firm, which provides products, systems and services for the home and building, industrial, space and aviation, and defense and marine markets, attributed the results to $108 million in writeoffs due to anticipated contract losses in its Defense Avionics Systems division in Albuquerque, N.M.
