Criminal charges were filed Friday against Escondido psychologist Nick R. Sanchez, alleging that he defrauded the Medi-Cal system by filing false claims for psychotherapy services never performed.
The state attorney general’s office charges Sanchez with 11 counts of filing false Medi-Cal claims from March 19, 1986, to July 20, 1987, and one count of grand theft for defrauding the state program of more than $87,000.
If convicted on all counts, Sanchez could receive six years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
